145 members urge Rep. Shadegg to reconsider retirementFor a stalwart conservative like Congressman John Shadegg (R-AZ), doing the right thing is its own reward. But it still has to feel pretty good to know that almost 150 of your colleagues think so highly of your work and your commitment to conservative principles that they would formally request that you reconsider stepping down. Last Friday, a letter was released by Republican Study Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) doing just that. In making the case for Shadegg's sticking around, Hensarling said: "Your intellectual consistency in defense of the Constitution and passionate High praise indeed, and well deserved by a man who has previously served as the RSC Chairman and who remains a leading figure in most of the key conservative fights on Capitol Hill today.
