Electing a True Conservative Majority In The House

Democrat "Hits" Just Keep on Coming

One or two errors in judgment could be attributed to an over-eager Democrat majority in the House trying to get their agenda started with vigor.

Three or four errors in judgment could be attributed to the fact that it had been 12 years since they held the majority and there was bound to be some rust that needed to shake out.

But the Republican Study Committee has put out a press release that outlines no fewer than EIGHT examples of Democrats' abuses of their new-found power in less than EIGHT MONTHS of holding the majority. And these are not small-scale incidents, either. They include:

  • Last night's shady actions in which the Speaker prematurely gaveled a vote closed, and the Democrats subsequently voided the result of the vote when it became clear that they were losing. Of course the result was different after a Democrat "do over."

  • Earmark requests by Ways & Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel to secure $2 million in federal funds to create a "Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service," which were supported by all but one Democrat in the House when put to a vote.

  • Threats of physical violence between House Members on the floor - most recently a profane tirade followed by an offer made by Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. to Rep. Lee Terry that they "step outside" to settle a disagreement.

  • The attempt early on by Speaker Pelosi to secure access to military aircraft from the President's fleet for taxpayer-funded travel to and from her district.
