The Sex Slave Trade in America:The following came from the folks at the National Association of Chiefs of Police, one of the largest police organizations in the world:
In one of the largest sex trafficking cases since the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, a federal investigation led to guilty pleas from three Mexican men to 27 counts of forcing young Mexican women into prostitution in brothels throughout the New York City area. All three men admitted to physically assaulting their victims on multiple occasions, causing serious bodily injuries. They admitted to using threats of serious harm and physical restraint against the young Mexican women to force them to commit acts of prostitution. They also admitted that they beat the women for hiding money, disobeying their orders and failing to earn more money. The victims were forced to perform acts of prostitution at a rate of $25 to $35 per "John." Of that amount, the owners and managers of the brothels took half. The other half was taken by the defendants and other members of the Carreto criminal organization. "This major case is a perfect example of why we need to do a better job of securing our borders and and points of entry," says Jim Kouri, vice president of the 14,000-member National Association of Chiefs of Police and former law-enforcement official in New York City. Kouri points to the many contradictions in our immigration policy: the 10 states that offer illegal aliens driver licenses; lack of prosecution of those who hire illegal immigrant workers; the benefits provided to illegal aliens; and an overall immigration policy that rewards lawbreakers and punishes legal immigrants. He calls it an unfair and destructive policy. Kouri also points to the disproportionate amount of crime committed by illegal aliens. For instance, of those apprehended for repeat immigration violations, 49 percent committed other felonies and misdemeanors such as robberies, burglaries, sex crimes, drug trafficking, and -- yes -- murder and rape. Defendants charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. Nine "The sex slave traffickers are just part of the overall threats associated with illegal immigration -- threats that include terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime and other dangers," warns Kouri.
