Chris Hackett

Biography from the candidate's website (www.chrishackettforcongress.com):

Traditional American values.
Chris was born in the city of Philadelphia in 1963. His dad started in the machine shop at the Franklin Institute Research Labs and taught Chris the value of loyalty and commitment by working his way up to a Lab Technician position during his 44 years of service. His parents were high school graduates and understood the value of education and wanted more for their four children. They scrimped and saved to move out of the city and send their children to a safer school. Chris put himself through College and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business from Wittenberg University in 1985 while accumulating twelve varsity letters. His teammates made him captain of the Cross Country and Wrestling teams. At Wittenberg he also met and married Ramah Pawling, a Dallas, PA native.

No stranger to hard work.
Fresh out of college he earned his CPA and CMA while working full time for a major Washington D.C. accounting firm. In 1990, Chris and Ramah decided to start a family and moved back home to Northeastern Pennsylvania and Chris became an entrepreneur. He purchased SHS TechStaffing, a professional recruiting and temporary staffing business, and initiated innovations that expanded the scope to include development and implementation of Employee Benefit Plans and comprehensive Human Resource Consulting services. With offices in Selinsgrove, Tannersville, Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre, and Scranton, Chris is very familiar with the challenging job situation in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Chris was honored as "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Junior Achievement NEPA in 2004.

Family first.
Knowing that strong marriages and families are at the core of a healthy society, Chris and Ramah have organized their lives around each other and their four girls; Alexandra, Madeleine, Gabrielle, and Ruby.

Giving back to his community.
Chris believes, as Tocqueville observed, that America's greatness comes not from government programs but from individuals forming voluntary associations to meet community needs. That is why he has donated his time and leadership to the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry, the United Way Tocqueville Campaign, Wyoming Seminary, Shavertown United Methodist Church, Northeast PA Philharmonic and Misericordia University.
