Adrian Smith (NE-3) and Bill Sali (ID-1) Earn Latest HCF EndorsementsFriday, May 05, 2006 WASHINGTON, DC - The House Conservatives Fund (HCF) today announced a second round of candidate endorsements, selecting candidates in two open-seat Republican primary races. In Nebraska's 3rd District, which is being vacated by Congressman Tom Osborne, the House Conservatives Fund has endorsed State Senator Adrian Smith. Coming just five days before the May 9th primary, this endorsement recognizes Senator Smith for his anti-tax record and his commitment to Nebraska's families. Smith has also been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, the National Right to Work PAC and the Club for Growth, and he shares endorsements from two Nebraska pro-life organizations. Idaho State Representative Bill Sali is the choice of the HCF in the May 23rd primary for Idaho's First District, which has been represented by Congressman Butch Otter. Despite the crowded field, which includes several candidates running as conservatives, Sali's messages of government reform and pro-life legislation coupled with his fundraising to date show him to be the strongest choice for conservatives in a race that could see a moderate RINO elected if the conservative vote is deeply divided. National conservative organizations are coming to a consensus on Sali, as well, and he is the only candidate to have received endorsements from pro-family, pro-2nd Amendment, and anti-tax groups in this race. "These are the kinds of races the House Conservatives Fund needs to be involved in," said HCF Chairman Tom Feeney. "Our support of Adrian Smith and Bill Sali reflects a belief that these two candidates are the strongest conservatives in their respective primaries, and we look forward to working with them in Congress." The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC supported by the members of the Republican Study Committee. They are dedicated to the identification and support of candidates who demonstrate a commitment to economic and social conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values. In addition to offering direct support of candidates, the HCF will encourage other conservative organizations and the members of the Republican Study Committee to join them in endorsing and contributing to conservatives in key races across the country.
