HCF Supports Joe Negron in Bid to Keep FL-16 in GOP HandsFriday, October 06, 2006 WASHINGTON, DC - The House Conservatives Fund has endorsed State Representative Joe Negron in his effort to succeed Congressman Mark Foley in Florida's Sixteenth Congressional District. Though the unique circumstances surrounding this race have created a number of difficulties for Republicans, our chosen candidate is certainly not one of them. Joe Negron is a proven conservative, whose commitment to lower taxes and the sanctity of life has been demonstrated for years on the state level. His candidacy provides Republicans with a true conservative voice in a seat that should be reliably Republican. But to hold that seat, he will need to work hard to make sure that voters know that they will need to vote for Congressman Foley, as his name cannot be removed from the ballot at this point. "Joe Negron would be a real gain for us in Congress," said Congressman Tom Feeney. "He is a solid conservative who knows what it means to take a stand on tough issues. Representative Negron would be a great candidate under any circumstances, but his candidacy gives Republicans a real chance to hold this seat. We are excited by his campaign and will do what we can to help him win in November." The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC supported by the members of the Republican Study Committee. They are dedicated to the identification and support of candidates who demonstrate a commitment to economic and social conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
