HCF Weighs in on GA-10 Special Election in Favor of WhiteheadFriday, July 13, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Thursday, July 12, 2007 "A strong conservative who will carry on Congressman Norwood's legacy." Despite the fact that both candidates in Tuesday's run-off election are Republican, Whitehead's combination of conservative accomplishment and commitment to continuing in the model of former Congressman Charlie Norwood make him the choice of the HCF. And he is not just the choice of the House Conservatives Fund. The front-runner throughout the primary period, Senator Whitehead took 43.5 percent of all votes cast and roughly 60 percent of Republican votes on June 19th. He received more than twice as many votes as the next closest candidate. "Senator Whitehead's conservative record speaks for itself," said House Conservatives Fund Chairman Tom Feeney. "As a two-term State Senator, he has represented his constituents' values by standing up against taxes, defending the 2nd Amendment, and protecting the rights of the unborn. He is a strong conservative who will carry on Congressman Norwood's legacy here in Washington." Feeney went on to reflect on Whitehead's connection with the former Congressman. "As a long-time friend of Charlie Norwood's, it seems fitting that Senator Whitehead would be the man to succeed him. Their shared legislative philosophy is one of true conservative principles, and we need more Members of Congress who share that philosophy with them. We look forward to welcoming Senator Whitehead to Congress." This endorsement in the closing days of the campaign reflects the House Conservatives Fund's belief that Jim Whitehead is the best person to carry on the legacy of Congressman Charlie Norwood in Georgia's Tenth Congressional District. The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC which supports Republican candidates and incumbents who demonstrate a commitment to economic and socially conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
