"Scalise's proven conservative record is a perfect fit for this conservative district."

WASHINGTON, DC - With the special election for Louisiana's First Congressional District less than a month away, the House Conservatives Fund (HCF) today announced an endorsement of State Senator Steve Scalise. Scalise's decade-long record of service on a wide range of fiscal and social issues makes him the HCF's choice to succeed Governor Bobby Jindal in this historically Republican district.

"It was a pleasure to serve in Congress with Governor Jindal," said Congressman Tom Feeney, HCF Chairman. "His contributions to the work of the Republican Study Committee were greatly appreciated, and we are eager to see his successor carry on that legacy. Senator Scalise's proven conservative record is a perfect fit for this conservative district. We are happy to do what we can to help him."

In assessing the field of candidates, the House Conservatives Fund was especially impressed with Senator Scalise's record of opposition to proposed tax increases and his role as the author of Louisiana's Constitutional amendment protecting traditional marriage. His work to prevent Louisiana citizens from being taxed by the state on the federal rebate checks they will soon receive is just the most recent example of his efforts to limit governmental burdens on taxpayers.

"Although several of the candidates in the race call for reforming Congress and reining in out-of-control government spending," continued Feeney, "Steve Scalise's leadership on these and other issues in Louisiana speaks for itself. I am confident that his election to Congress will help us restore conservative values to Washington."

The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC which supports Republican candidates and incumbents who demonstrate a commitment to economic and socially conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
