House Conservatives Fund Endorses Doug Lamborn in CO-5 PrimaryThursday, July 27, 2006 WASHINGTON, DC - Hot on the heels of last week's third round of endorsements, the House Conservatives Fund has come out in support of Colorado State Senator Doug Lamborn in the race to succeed Congressman Joel Hefley (R-CO-5). "Senator Lamborn is a proven conservative," said House Conservatives Fund Chairman Tom Feeney. "His track record on taxation, immigration, pro-life issues, and support for the President and our military in the war on terror has shown that he doesnât just talk about the important issues - he takes action. Doug Lamborn has worked to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving state dollars, and he passed the largest tax cut the state has ever seen. He knows what it means to be a leader in the fight for our conservative values." Feeney went on to praise Lamborn's legislative experience. "Doug Lamborn was a founding member of the Republican Study Committee of Colorado, which is modeled after our Republican Study Committee here in Washington. He has been a champion on school choice issues, and he has sponsored more pro-life legislation than anyone in Colorado history. He will be a great addition to our conservative ranks, and we look forward to working with him." This endorsement represents the fifth time the House Conservatives Fund has weighed in on a contested Republican primary this cycle, and they currently enjoy an undefeated record. Congressman John Campbell was elected in 2005 with the support of the House Conservatives Fund, and Jim Jordan (OH-4) and Adrian Smith (NE-3) won their respective primaries with HCF help, as well. Most recently, the HCF supported Bill Sali in the crowded six-way primary for Congressman Butch Otter's seat in Idaho's First District. Sali pointed to the endorsement of the House Conservatives Fund in a televised debate, using it to distinguish himself from other conservative candidates in the race. He went on to win against his five opponents by more than six points. The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC supported by the members of the Republican Study Committee. They are dedicated to the identification and support of candidates who demonstrate a commitment to economic and social conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
