House Conservatives Fund Welcomes Nine Endorsed Candidates to CongressWednesday, November 08, 2006 WASHINGTON, DC - The House Conservatives Fund (HCF) celebrated nine victories in open seat races across the country last night. In each race, a solid conservative candidate emerged as the winner despite the larger anti-Republican trend. With these wins, conservatives will represent a majority of the Republican conference in the 110th Congress. Winning their respective races were Michele Bachmann (MN-6), Vern Buchanan (FL-13), David Davis (TN-1), Jim Jordan (OH-4), Doug Lamborn (CO-5), Peter Roskam (IL-6), Bill Sali (ID-1), Adrian Smith (NE-3) and Tim Walberg (MI-7). The variety of these districts shows that this is not simply a case of conservatives winning in the most conservative districts; several are seen as regularly competitive between Republicans and Democrats. These results reflect the belief among many voters that principled, conservative Republicans do not represent "politics as usual." Instead, they are seen as the best hope to cut government spending, limit federal bureaucracy, and protect the values and rights of Americans. "Throughout the primaries and again last night, Americans sent a clear message," said Congressman Tom Feeney. "They have indicated time after time a preference for candidates who show a commitment to true Republican values. These nine candidates are all principled conservatives who will be welcome voices in our efforts to continue to support those values in the next Congress." Republican Study Committee Chairman Mike Pence also praised the candidates, saying, "Amidst the disappointing news of a majority lost last night, there is still bright hope for conservatives in these nine principled men and women who were elected to fulfill the hopes of millions of Americans who cherish limited government, fiscal discipline and traditional moral values. I look forward to working with each of them as we make the conservative agenda the Republican agenda in the 110th Congress." The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC supported by the members of the Republican Study Committee. They are dedicated to the identification and support of candidates who demonstrate a commitment to economic and social conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
