"His smart business sense and strong Midwestern values are exactly what we need here in Washington."

WASHINGTON, DC - The House Conservatives Fund issued its fifth special election endorsement of the 2008 election cycle today, announcing their support of entrepreneur Jim Oberweis in the race to succeed former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert in Illinois' Fourteenth Congressional District.

"I was very impressed with Jim Oberweis from the time I first met him," said Congressman Tom Feeney, HCF Chairman. "His smart business sense and strong Midwestern values are exactly what we need here in Washington. After a year of fiscal missteps and wasteful spending by the Democrat majority in Congress, we need candidates like Jim, who offer real-world business experience, more than ever."

Oberweis won both the special election primary and the regular election primary on February 5th by double-digit margins, setting up back-to-back match-ups with free-spending liberal Bill Foster in March and November. Both men have significant personal wealth that they have committed to the race, but Foster is further supported by the deep pockets of the DCCC and their liberal allies.

"The voters in the Fourteenth District have a clear choice," Feeney added. "Jim Oberweis represents a continuation of Speaker Hastert's legacy of principled leadership and fiscal restraint. Bill Foster will be one more vote for Nancy Pelosi's liberal agenda and Rahm Emanuel's efforts to create a permanent Democrat majority."

The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC which supports Republican candidates and incumbents who demonstrate a commitment to economic and socially conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
