WASHINGTON, DC - The House Conservatives Fund has added three more true conservative candidates to its list of endorsements this week. Mike Whalen, the Republican nominee in Iowa’s open First Congressional District, and New York State Senator Ray Meier, who is seeking to succeed Congressman Sherwood Boehlert in the open Twenty-Fourth District in New York, are the latest open seat candidates to earn endorsements from the PAC that represents the 110 Members of the Republican Study Committee. South Carolina State Representative Ralph Norman, who is running neck-and-neck with Congressman John Spratt in South Carolina’s Fifth District, is the fourth challenger to receive an endorsement from the HCF. With these two open seat candidates and one challenger, the House Conservatives Fund has now supported a dozen candidates this year.

"Anyone who says that Republicans are in trouble this year hasn't been looking at the right races," said House Conservatives Fund Chairman Tom Feeney. "Our endorsed candidates reflect a strong commitment to conservative fiscal principles and family values, and voters will respond to that in November. I am confident that Ray Meier, Mike Whalen and Ralph Norman will all be solid additions to a more conservative Congress."

Iowa's First District is viewed by many pundits as the single most competitive district in the country this year, and Republicans will be well represented by Mike Whalen. With his background in economics and his history as a business owner with deep community ties, he knows the impact lower taxes and decreased regulation can have on economic growth.

Ray Meier has served his constituents well as one of only a few conservative Senators in the New York Legislature. His positions on fiscal and social issues reflect a commitment to Reagan Republican values that is in line with voters in his long-time Republican district.

And Ralph Norman is showing signs of accomplishing something that would have been unthinkable just two years ago - he is running neck-and-neck with Congressman John Spratt, and he has the support and the organization to unseat the incumbent. Far from circling the wagons in fear of heavy losses, the House Conservatives Fund is actively seeking out races where they can put the fight to the Democrats and challenge some of their more vulnerable Members.

The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC supported by the members of the Republican Study Committee. They are dedicated to the identification and support of candidates who demonstrate a commitment to economic and social conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
