Undefeated House Conservatives Fund Endorses Four MoreTuesday, June 20, 2006 WASHINGTON, DC - After successfully supporting candidates in three open-seat primaries in May, the House Conservatives Fund is enjoying an undefeated 4-for-4 record. At their "Red White and Blue Barbecue" Reception tonight, HCF Chairman Tom Feeney announced four more endorsements for House candidates across the country. "We were very pleased to see Jim Jordan, Adrian Smith, and Bill Sali win their respective primaries last month, and weâre looking forward to welcoming them to Congress in January," said Feeney. "But we arenât done yet. We will continue to seek out strong conservative candidates in open seats and competitive districts, helping to ensure that conservatives remain the majority of the majority." The four new endorsements were evenly split between challengers to Democrat incumbents and open seat candidates who are seeking to preserve Republican seats. Both David McSweeney, an Illinois businessman who is challenging freshman Representative Melissa Bean, and Iowa State Senate President Jeff Lamberti, who is seeking to unseat Representative Leonard Boswell, are seen as top challengers by both parties. Victories by these candidates would make Democratsâ goal of taking control of the House exceedingly unlikely. Both campaigns are showing significant support and momentum as they head into the all-important summer campaign season. Minnesota State Senator Michele Bachmann is known as a true conservative for her years of stalwart support of pro-life legislation and her strong opposition to tax increases. She won a five-way nominating convention in May and is currently unopposed in the Republican primary. Her likely opponent is Patricia Wetterling, an activist who lost to current Representative Mark Kennedy by 8 points in 2004. And Nevada State Assemblywoman Sharron Angle has made a name for herself as a legislator who is willing to take tough stands, frequently emerging as the only "no" vote on measures to increase spending in the state. She led the fight against the largest tax increase in Nevada state history, going so far as to take the measure to court. And she is currently spearheading a campaign for the Angle Property Tax Restraint Initiative, an effort to limit property tax increases for all citizens and to curb estate taxes on inherited family-owned businesses. The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC supported by the members of the Republican Study Committee. They are dedicated to the identification and support of candidates who demonstrate a commitment to economic and social conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
